DREAM Fellowship at Starr Career Development Center Spring 2026 

The DREAM Fellowship at Baruch College is designed to support immigrant students by providing them with career-based or community-based learning opportunities. These experiences allow students to explore academic and career interests through internships, volunteer work, research, or community projects with organizations across New York City. Fellows who participate will gain real-world experience, develop professional skills, and build professional networks. 

The fellowship supports students facing work authorization challenges by providing meaningful professional experiences. Priority consideration will be given to students who are undocumented, DACA recipients, or in the process of adjusting their legal status. International students are not eligible for this fellowship. 

Student Stipend 

Students selected for the fellowship are expected to complete 150 hours over the Spring 2026 semester at their host organization. The students and organization will work together to create a mutually agreeable schedule. Upon successful completion of the fellowship and submission of required paperwork, students will receive a $4,000 stipend, managed by the Baruch College Foundation. To support the payment process, the supervisor will be asked to submit a letter confirming the completion of hours. Students must also have a valid ITIN or SSN number to process payment. Hours cannot be completed at Baruch College or any other CUNY Campus. 

Eligibility 

Must be a current undergraduate at Baruch College. (Graduate students are not eligible.) 

Previously completed a minimum of 12-15 credits at Baruch College 

Willingness to complete 150 hours at a host organization (February-May 2026) 

Must have previously obtained an ITIN or SSN number 

Must be in good standing with the college 

Minimum GPA for consideration is 3.0 (if lower student encouraged to apply and give insights to GPA in application)

Student Selection Process 

Interested students will complete an application for the fellowship. Part of the selection process will include an interview with staff at the Starr Career Development Center to get 

to know the students. Selected students who are awarded the fellowship must attend a mandatory orientation covering professional etiquette, timesheet procedures, and the fellowship timeline. (Exact Date TBA mid-January.) 

Timeline 

November 2025- Application opens for students to apply December 2025- Application Closes 

January 2026- Students selected and mandatory orientation Mid-Late January 2026- Interviews at organizations February/March 2026- Students start hours May/June 2026- Students complete hours at organizations
