Now entering its 8th semester, the Schneps Media Creative & Multimedia Intern Program has welcomed 122 student interns and continues to grow as a premier pipeline for aspiring journalists, creators, designers, and strategists. Interns are empowered to contribute to real assignments, from pitching and producing stories to covering live events and collaborating across departments. This program goes beyond classroom theory, offering the mentorship, access, and portfolio-building experience necessary to thrive in today’s fast-paced media landscape.
Job Description:
Schneps Media is seeking a Sports Content Creator/Journalist intern to join our amNY Sports team. The Sports Creator/Journalist intern will play an integral part of our sports coverage in analyzing, writing or recording video recaps, & tracking trending news in sports for our brands under the company's umbrella. Ability to attend sporting events and outside venues, and can interview, capture, and talk with fans to gather insights and perspectives for their reporting. This role will report to the Creative Director and Sports Director and work closely with other members of the team to ensure consistent brand messaging across all platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Support the amNY Sports editorial team by assisting with beat coverage, athlete features, and human-interest sports profiles.
- Write timely news updates, recaps, and analysis across New York sports teams and leagues, with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and voice.
- Contribute to amNYsports social platforms (Instagram, X/Twitter, YouTube, TikTok) by creating engaging posts, short-form videos, and real-time content.
- Pitch creative story ideas, including video-driven segments, original reporting, or new formats for spotlighting athletes, fans, or community stories.
- Attend sporting events, press conferences, or sports-related experiences and venues to capture on-site video, interview fans, and record game-day content.
- Collaborate with the Creative and Sports Directors to shape storytelling strategies across digital, print, and social channels.
- Monitor and report on trending sports news, player performance, team dynamics, and pop culture crossovers.
- Assist in editing and packaging video content using basic editing tools like CapCut, Canva, TikTok, or Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Represent Schneps Media in the field by engaging with fans, athletes, and businesses in sports-related settings and bringing those stories to life through multimedia.
- Help grow the voice and identity of amNY Sports through fresh content ideas, sharp storytelling, and active social media engagement.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree in journalism, broadcasting, marketing, communications, film, or a related field
- Familiarity with major sports and sports-related content
- Strong writing and storytelling skills and ability to write engaging stories for print and digital platforms
- Proficiency in fact-checking and ensuring accuracy in reporting
- Be comfortable shooting video and pictures with your phone
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with major social media platforms (e.g.Instagram, TikTok,YouTube Shorts, etc.)
- Detail-oriented and able to multitask effectively
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
- Basic knowledge of video design principles and ability to create visually appealing social media posts using Canva, TikTok, CapCut, or Adobe Premiere Pro etc.
- Interns are expected to be in the New York City metro area with the ability to travel for on-site reporting and video production assignments. All regularly scheduled meetings will be conducted virtually. Any occasional opportunities for on-site visits and in-person meetings will be coordinated with interns' schedules.

Academic Credit:
Interns are required to receive academic credit through their college or university in order to be eligible for the program. We work directly with students to ensure all school requirements are met, including any paperwork, evaluations, or hour tracking necessary for credit approval. -
Flexible Locations:
We offer both in-person and remote internship opportunities, depending on the nature of the role and the intern’s availability. Some positions may also be hybrid, combining remote work with occasional in-person assignments or events. Each internship posting will clearly indicate whether the role is in-person, remote, or hybrid to help students apply accordingly. -
