Junior Web & SEO Specialist

About the Role: Are you a natural problem-solver who loves figuring out how websites work and how to make them rank on Google? Tip the Scales Design is a fast-paced, tight-knit digital agency in Island Lake, IL, and we are looking for an eager, tech-savvy "tinker" to join our team.

As a Junior Web & SEO Specialist, you won't be fetching coffee—you will be getting hands-on, real-world experience building the digital engines that drive our clients' businesses. Working directly alongside our lead developers and digital marketing team, you will help build stunning WordPress websites and execute foundational search engine optimization strategies. This is the perfect entry-level role for someone who wants to bridge the gap between web development and digital marketing while aggressively growing their career.

What You Will Do:

Web Development Support: Assist our lead web architects with WordPress website setups, theme customizations, and plugin management.

Troubleshooting: Help identify and fix website bugs, formatting issues, and broken links to ensure a seamless user experience.

On-Page SEO: Execute foundational SEO tasks, including optimizing meta titles, descriptions, headers, and images for client websites.

Off-Page SEO: Assist the marketing team with backlink-building strategies and local SEO listing management.

Collaboration: Work alongside our project managers, sales team, and content creators to ensure client projects launch on time and perform beautifully.

What We Are Looking For:

The Basics: A foundational understanding of HTML, CSS, and WordPress (or a strong, proven ability to learn quickly via bootcamps or self-teaching).

SEO Curiosity: Familiarity with basic SEO principles (keywords, meta tags, ranking factors) and a desire to learn more.

A "Tinker" Mindset: You aren't afraid to dive into the backend of a website, test things out, and research solutions when you hit a roadblock.

Attention to Detail: You take pride in clean work, double-checking your links, and formatting things perfectly.

Education: Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, Marketing, or a related field.
