2022 Wells Fargo Enterprise Functions - Strategy and Digital Innovation Summer Internship Program

Enterprise Strategy Consulting provides and manages our digital foundation and common capabilities, and transforms our business models to meet evolving customer needs and grow the company. The investments we are making will help the company create innovative digital banking experiences and make it easier for customers to achieve their financials goals.
Following the internship, successful candidates will have the opportunity to join the team as part of the formal Strategy Talent Development Program (STDP) which will enable them to spend time on multiple structured assignments aligned to a particular line of business, benefit from well-designed training and gain deeper subject knowledge.

Gateway Product is a part of our product management team. You’ll have the opportunity to learn how APIs are created through ideation and discovery, customer testing, interface design, development, and testing. As the product management team we lead the design, delivery, and market launch of innovative API and SDK solutions for customers across every line of business, supporting exciting new embedded finance use cases for consumer, small business, commercial, and corporate customers.

Enterprise Agile Transformation and Customer Journeys is an enterprise wide end-to-end business transformation approach, which leverages and adheres to Wells Fargo Agile as part of our full lifecycle product management process. Within the Enterprise Agile Transformation group, we strategically help our partners accelerate how quickly they move from ideas to production.

Program Overview:
Over the course of 10 weeks, you can expect the following:

  • On-the-job experience: Working independently as well as part of a high-performing team while having an end-to-end ownership of a distinct deliverable that has a direct impact on business and/or enterprise. You will begin to build a robust consulting toolkit including qualitative and quantitative analytical skillset, storytelling, visualization and interpersonal communication skills by actively participating in your team’s day-today activities.

  • Professional support: You will be matched with a peer “buddy” who will help you navigate and enjoy our internship as well as answer your day-to-day questions. Additionally, a senior mentor will help you navigate through challenging situations, and give you feedback throughout the course of the summer.

  • A speaker series (virtual and/or in-person): Wells Fargo’s top leaders provide insight into how to make the most of your summer experience, share their career paths, tips and advice, while also sharing trends in the financial and functional spaces they serve.

  • Organization networking activities: We promote community involvement and networking with other summer interns and full-time analysts. You will have the opportunity to create lasting professional relationships, build your network, and take advantage of a diverse and rapidly growing workforce.

  • Internship Duration: : 10 Weeks (June-August 2022)

In this role, you will:
Work closely with Wells Fargo’s top executives and provide strategic advice, subject matter expertise, and innovative solutions to Wells Fargo businesses. For a duration of the program, your project will contribute towards defining the overall strategy of the firm and/or lines of business, help develop execution roadmap and governance to help businesses execute on Wells Fargo’s top strategic priorities. As an intern, you can expect to:

  • Develop presentations and other documents for senior management in independently and in partnership with other team members
  • Build new partner relationships while seeking feedback, creating alignment, and proactively addressing risks
  • Conduct competitive assessments, customer and industry research, and financial analysis as an input to understanding Wells Fargo’s relative market position
  • Evaluate strategic options and develop recommendations for feature enhancements

Additional responsibilities could include:

Enterprise Strategy Consulting Internship Program

  • Identify, gather and analyze appropriate data and develop initial insights that inform strategic recommendation
  • Conduct competitive assessments, customer and industry research, and financial analysis as an input to understanding Wells Fargo’s relative market position
  • Evaluate strategic options and develop recommendations for lines of business or enterprise-wide projects, typically in partnership with strategy colleagues and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Deliver solutions and recommendations and guide execution/implementation (as appropriate) of cross business strategic priorities

Gateway Product Internship

  • Develop an understanding for the software development lifecycle, with dual track agile discovery and delivery teams to ensure product-market fit
  • Learn how to understand client needs through focused customer engagement, research, market trend analyses, sales/relationship team feedback and competitor benchmarking
  • Help product owners develop a product strategy for leading edge API products and embedded finance experiences

Enterprise Agile Transformation and Customer Journeys

  • Collaborate with Product Management and Design partners to understand challenges and bring forward best practices for the product and design community to leverage
  • Run experiments, test solutions, and validate hypotheses with product portfolios and cross functional teams to gain support and buy-in for your proposals
  • Research and develop leading content and curriculum on modern product management practices to support the development of the Product Management Academy at Wells Fargo
  • Share findings in forums that reach the broader product, design, and agile communities at Wells Fargo

Required Qualifications
  • 6+ months of work experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree candidate with an expected graduation in December 2022 – May/June 2023
  • BA/BS degree candidate with major concentration in one of the following fields: Business, Marketing, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Finance, Math or other related major
  • Proactive, intellectually curious and interested in financial services, strategy and fintech and able to take on a high level of responsibility, initiative, and accountability
  • Strategic, “outside the box” thinking and the ability and interest to quickly and effectively ramp up on unfamiliar topic
  • Analytical skills and interest in identifying, collecting and strategically analyzing data, helping drive insights and interest in developing strategic recommendations
  • Attention to detail and ability to navigate ambiguity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
