Wealth Management Risk Reporting - Analyst

Firm Risk Management
Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model and other risks.
Background on the Position
The Wealth Management Enterprise Risk Management and Reporting Team reports on and helps to manage Credit specific risks and Enterprise-wide (Wealth Management) risks. This role is focused on enhancing and automating Credit risk reporting, as well as enterprise-wide risk reporting. The role offers an opportunity to work closely with Risk, Lending Businesses, IT, Project Management Office, Finance, and Operations as well as other stakeholders that support WM with a focus on automating manual reporting process.
 
 
Primary Responsibilities
§ Help drive the design and implementation of enhanced Credit reporting, as well as enterprise-wide risk reporting for Wealth Management. Identify opportunities to convey complex data insights in a consumable way.
§ Analyze large data sets to develop creative and critical insights for bank and board level committees. Generate reporting ideas and implement repeatable processes that support WM credit risk function. Assist in drive thoughtful discussions with senior management.
§ Understand existing IT projects and work closely with IT and Project Management Office teams to remediate data gaps as part of existing projects or identify new projects. Provide status reports to senior management and other forums/working groups. Review and understand existing manual reporting processes and prepare detailed requirements for automation via Power BI.
§ Assist in analyzing data to identify key risk trends and identify areas where reports need to be improved or new reports need to be created
§ Report data quality issues and adjustments to appropriate data stewards
 
Experience
§ 1-2 years of full-time business and data analysis experience
§ Experience in developing and delivering complex reports leveraging large datasets
§ Basic understanding of Credit Risk Management concepts preferred, but not required
§ Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SQL, and PowerBI
§ Ability to gather detailed requirements for automation and communicate with Project Management Office and IT
§ Strong communication, problem solving, and organizational skills
§ Previous experience in financial services preferred, but not required
§ Understanding the basics in writing and optimizing SQL queries
