Customs Compliance Intern

This position is a 10 week internship program that will start June 5th through August 11th. This will be a remote opportunity. The wage range for this position is $20 to $24 with the actual pay dependent on your skills and experience as they relate to the job requirements and the location where you will be performing the job. 

The Customs Compliance Intern will support the Customs Audit Manager and Global Trade Compliance Team with duty and tax reviews of international shipments moving through the Pitney Bowes system to assure compliance with governmental regulations and customer requirements.

Job Description
Assist the Customs Audit Manager in monitoring duty and tax variances in +100 countries utilizing internal dashboards and governmental guidance.  Investigate variances and work for resolution.
Conduct customs entry audits and compile results for internal review and corrective action.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders (carriers, brokers) for process improvements to assure compliance with global customs and tax regulations.
Support updates and improvements to internal systems, dashboards and reporting tools.
Provide ad hoc support on internal and external duty and tax (VAT, GST, etc.) inquiries.
Support the vendor collection and remittance program as required.
Assist with the development of internal training on duty and tax issues.
Identify cost saving opportunities and support necessary changes to implement new processes.
Provide advice on import and export procedures to internal customers.
Maintain / update Pitney Bowes country profiles regarding duty and tax rates and de minimus details.
Provide support for ad-hoc customs compliance projects and questions.
Other duties as assigned.

Your Background
As a Customs Compliance Intern, you are:
A rising junior, senior or graduate student with a International Business major preferred
Knowledge of Harmonized Tariff System and HS classification.
Knowledge of import procedures, customs documents, customs valuation and INCOTERMS.
Strong organizational skills and an analytical mindset.  You are a problem solver!
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written skills)
