2023- Real Estate and Community Development Project Analyst Intern

Plante Moran’s Housing and Community Development (HCD) team specializes in real estate incentive structuring, advisory, and compliance for clients in need of filling budget gaps in often highly complex capital stacks. The HCD team consists of highly trained multi-disciplined professionals with expertise in a wide array of real estate matters including project structuring, operational forecasting, tax incentives and program compliance.

Your role. 
As a project analyst, you’ll be able to assist in providing project support for all aspects of the HCD team’s real estate advisory services including project modeling for transaction closing, structuring, technical reviews, and post construction model updates.   Your work will include, but not be limited to:  
  • Supporting the project team to analyze developer underwriting for potential inconsistencies, noncompliance with market conditions, etc.  
  • Preparing detailed financial models utilizing Excel to support client engagements. 
  • Assisting in the preparation of “mini-models” for clients to use in soliciting tax incentive investment. 
  • Analysis of lender and investor term-sheets  
  • Preparing materials and presentations to prospective new clients. 
  • Communicating with third party service providers on the closing team, including developers, lenders, attorneys, investors, and brokers. 
  • Assisting in the structuring of debt and equity in an attempt to optimize benefits to the developer client. 
  • Enhancing client relationships through award winning service, follow-up and successful project completion. 
  • Ensuring implementation and compliance of PM policies and procedures on projects. 
The qualifications. 
  • Detail-oriented leader with interpersonal, problem solving, communication, and analytical skills. 
  •  Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in real estate, data analytics, finance or economics, or related field. 
  • Academic success (a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0).

This is a non-exempt position and may require work hours that exceed the standard 40-hour work week. This position may require some local, national, and occasional international travel.
