The Data Services team is responsible for supporting Enterprise Oracle and SQL Server Databases for several City agencies, including Oracle and SQL Server Database Patching, diagnosing, and troubleshooting database errors, and performing tuning of database systems. 
 
Your Role:  
  • Assist in the creation and management of database patching schedules  
  • Automate meeting invites to customers based on the database patching schedule 
  • Develop processes for optimizing database security 
  • Recommend and implement emerging database technologies 
  • Performance tuning of database systems 
Your Benefits:  
  • Earn $17 to $24 per hour while supporting the City of New York’s revival (hourly rate is dependent on level in school and job role) 
Your Schedule:  
  • 35 Hours Per Week, 9-5 PM, M-F  
  • 13 Week Internship  
About You:  
  • Major - Any Engineering major preferably Computer Science or Business/ Finance Major with a passion for technology and automation 
  • College or Graduate student  
  • Strong command of SQL and SQL server tools 
  • Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards 
  • Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling 
  • PowerShell and Unix shell scripting skills 
  • Familiarity with SSAS, SSIS, SSRS 
  • Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge 
  • Familiarity with at least one RDBMS - Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools - Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint 
  • Experience with any programming languages such as C, C#, Java, Python, etc. 
  • Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
