You will assist the Office of Planning and Portfolio Governance Director in the development of communication strategies and activities aimed at expanding the effectiveness of FMCSA’s IT messages to both stakeholders and general audiences. He/she will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with USDOT and FMCSA leadership and staff, stakeholder organizations, and members of the media.  

As a Program Analyst, you will:

  • Be responsible for acquiring and maintaining a high degree of awareness and knowledge of all FMCSA IT policies, programs, activities, goals, and objectives to prepare communication materials that effectively convey FMCSA IT information.
  • Maintain a high degree of awareness and knowledge of all FMCSA IT policies, programs, activities, goals, and initiatives and identifies and recommend newsworthy items on associated complex and technical subjects for inclusion in public affairs campaigns. Originate and develop concepts, strategies and plans to incorporate and highlight the newsworthy items successfully in the various IT public affairs campaigns.
  • Research, draft, and edit IT materials including presentations, magazine articles, press releases, letters-to-the-editor, briefing materials, reports and Webpage content as part of ongoing, nationwide, commercial motor vehicle IT activities.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of IT public affairs programs aimed at informing a diverse universe of Agency stakeholders, as well as the general public, with the goal of saving lives by reducing the number and the severity of crashes involving commercial motor vehicles through increased compliance with federal regulations and greater adoption of safe driving behaviors.
