Administrative Apprentice, Development & Fundraising Campaign

This part-time apprenticeship offers a broad range of experience in the Development department. The work covers Alumni Relations and Development Operations with a particular focus on supporting the school’s fundraising campaign. This is a role for someone who enjoys interfacing with people, researching, database maintenance, and multi-tasking on a variety of projects.
Reporting to the Director of Alumni Relations, ideal candidates possess a passion for the performing arts, strong interest in engaging with alumni, are effective communicators, and have a pleasant demeanor providing exceptional customer service.
The salary is $18.50 per hour (20 hours per week for 40 weeks) or a contracted amount of $14,800 for the school year. This is a hybrid position with work both in-person and remote. On-campus presence is expected as per a schedule crafted with the supervisor.
About our Development and Alumni Relations Team: The Alumni Office is highly collaborative and consists of three people as part of the larger Development team. This apprentice would work with departments across the school including the Music, Dance, and Drama Divisions, Marks Center, Student Affairs, and more.

About the Professional Apprentice Program: This program provides immersive training for emerging performing arts technicians and administrators, addressing the need for practical training in the field. For over four decades, it has prepared recent graduates, early-career professionals, and individuals undergoing career transitions for employment in the cultural sector. Role Responsibilities:
- Interact regularly with alumni through personal contact, phone, letter, email, etc.
- Assist with database maintenance tasks.
- Conduct research and data screening projects as requested by colleagues on the Development team.
- Help maintain a social media presence in the various alumni Facebook groups by posting in the newsfeeds, approving member requests, and monitoring group activity.
- Support the alumni online community by posting job listings and updating the alumni performance calendar.
Minimum Requirements:
- Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work with confidential information and diverse populations.
- Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service.
- Bachelor’s Degree, or related professional experience and transferable skills, or a combination of both.
Preferred Background:
- Background in or knowledge of the performing arts (music, dance, and/or drama).
